I saw a recent news story about people renting their cars for extra cash. If you plan to rent out your car to someone, check with your insurance company to make sure you’re covered. In Florida you are responsible for damages if someone else is driving your car and injures someone. You don’t have to be driving to be responsible. If you rent your car to someone, most insurance policies won’t cover damage caused in an accident. You will need a separate policy or extra coverage to rent your car. Check with your insurance first. Don’t assume you are covered.
Some private car rental Apps claim they provide coverage. Don’t be so sure. You must do your due diligence before you rent your car.
