Steven M. Swann supports 9-11 blood drive with raffle donation to encourage community participation
July 4, 2011
Steven M. Swann of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney has given a generous donation of a 40-inch HD LCD flat-screen TV as a title sponsor of the Crary Buchanan 9-11 Blood Drive.
The three-day event will commemorate the 10 th anniversary of the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 innocent victims and the heroes who tried to rescue them.
“We will come together as a community to honor the dead by saving lives through blood donations,” said Steven M. Swann. “I want to show my appreciation for the selflessness of the hundreds and hundreds of people who will be giving the gift of life.”
Blood donors will be automatically entered into a drawing for the television. Swann will personally award the TV to the winner, to be announced after the drive concludes.
“The weekend of 9-11 will be a time of reflection,” said Mike Crary, blood drive chairman and managing attorney of Crary Buchanan. “Thanks to the generosity of Steven and blood donors, it will also be a time of affirmation.”
The three-day blood drive begins Sept. 9 at noon with a remembrance attended by the Stuart Fire Department. Collections will continue that day through 8 p.m., and resume Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Florida’s Blood Centers will collect blood in its big red buses at the neighboring offices of Crary Buchanan and Steven M. Swann, 759 SW and 729 Federal Highway, Stuart.
“This year, on this important anniversary, we want to show how much we care for our neighbors by inspiring a new record,” Swann said. “I urge everyone who can give blood to join with us.”
