Mike Crary of Crary Buchanan has received the Award of Excellence from the Florida Association of Blood Banks for leading a blood drive that collected a record 304 pints.
“I share this recognition with all who donated,” said Crary, managing partner of the law firm. “We at Crary Buchanan are committed to a second drive on this, the 10 th anniversary of the horrifying attacks on our country.”
The law firm will direct the blood drive the weekend of Sept. 9-11 at its offices at 759 SW Federal Highway in Stuart.
The blood drive held on the same weekend of 2010 collected 304 pints, far exceeding the previous Martin County record of 210 pints. The drive had the support of local firefighters, Seacoast National Bank, Martin Memorial Health Systems, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, St. Joseph’s Church and the Martin County Bar Association.
The award recognizes Crary’s extraordinary commitment and exceptional performance in the mission of saving lives. Crary was nominated by Susan Brown and Mirta Morgan of Florida’s Blood Centers.
“We are grateful to those who contributed last year and we hope that they will donate again and encourage others do the same,” said Crary, who personally has donated more than 6 gallons of blood. “We can honor the 3,000 people who died a decade ago by saving lives.”
