STUART — Treasured Lands Foundation was presented with a grant for $10,000 from the TD Charitable Fund, the charitable giving art of TD Bank, “America’s Most Convenient Bank©” on Dec. 15.
Treasured Lands Board President Scott Turnbull was joined by fellow board members Jacqui Thurlow-Lippisch, mayor of Sewall’s Point, Chappy Young and Leslie Corcoran and Executive Director Charles “Chuck” Barrowclough and Development Director Jessica Cox to accept the contribution from TD Bank representatives Hector Ortiz, retail market manager, and local store managers Christian Scalercio and Paula Zerby.
Treasured Lands’ education efforts are extensive. The land trust has led numerous school groups, civic organizations and individuals on field trips into Barley Barber Swamp in Indiantown. The 400-acre preserve is owned by FPL and rife with wildlife and plant species, including a forest of majestic, soaring bald cypress — at least one more than 1,000 years old.
“We’re very grateful for the generosity of the TD Charitable Foundation,” said Barrowclough. “By investing in Treasured Lands Foundation, they’re making a major contribution toward our efforts to uphold Martin County’s legacy of environmental protection — and help awaken and educate the nature lover that we believe resides in everyone.”
A staunch commitment to active involvement in the local community is a vital element of the TD Bank philosophy. TD Bank, “America’s Most Convenient Bank®” and the TD Charitable Foundation provide financial and other support to affordable housing initiatives, financial literacy and education and the environment, many of which focus on improving the welfare of children and families.
